We made a mistake a few months back. Like most Millenial parents, we are overloaded with toys and did not need one single more thing from Odin’s Birthday. We……may have gone overboard with that as we all felt a bit deflated as we went to bed on Odin’s birthday (his biggest present was a toothbrush).
We decided to make up for that (with both kids).
Some pre-christmas festivities:
- My mom took Maureen, Odin Jude and I on a Christmas train ride in Sacramento which was GREAT.
- Maureen, my Mom and I went out to a great dinner at a sushi restaurant…had a few too many drinks and ended up at a dive bar afterwards
- Grandma Holly spent some great time making gingerbread houses (I can only assume modeled after the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona)
- Tree Decorating!

Christmas
Opening Presents/Christmas Morning:

Some Presents aftermath:
- Kids enjoying their new sleeping bags
- Bike ride
- Hanging glow in the dark stars on the kids ceiling

Yosemite for NYE
We rented a house near Yosemite National Park 4 days leading up to NYE with two other couples (Jenny/Mikey and Jimmy/Beth). It was such a great trip- allowed us to relax after the chaos of hosting and all things Christmas. Jimmy and Beth’s kids are also very into babysitting which gave us some time to hang out with the adults. The tip was great, and included Ice Skating in the shadow of Half Dome, Sledding, All things snow, and Maureen consoling Odin in some of the most beautiful scenery as he dealt with car sicknesss.
