2021 and 2021 have been wild. Just having a baby is more than enough for most, but doing it in a Pandemic and not being able to have your son meet his extended family for 10 months was really hard. Happily, with travel restrictions lifting and an abundance of vacation time saved from work, Maureen, Odin and myself were able to visit Connecticut for three weeks!
The Flight
We were pretty nervous about flying with Odin for such a long flight and due to all the flight cancellations from COVID, we ended up with a red-eye flight to CT. So, If HE had a bad flight then everyone around us would ALSO have a bad flight. Luckily he was great! Once the lights dimmed in the plane he fell right asleep. Maureen and I weren’t quite as lucky but think we made out pretty well considering.
Visiting Ben and Callie-Jean
One great thing about being in CT for so long is the ability to see people beyond immediate family. I’ve been wanting to see Ben and Callie-Jean’s house for a long time and this was the time. Jeff and Sonal were awesome enough to visit the same day. It was Odin’s first time seeing a goat, chicken and bunny which was super fun.

Mystic with Jenny and Mikey
Being the great friends they are, Jenny and Mikey (who have been living in New Jersey for about a year on a temporary work assignment) met up with us in Mystic for a sailboat ride on the mighty Argia!
4th of July!
As I mentioned earlier, not being able to introduce Odin to the family has been tough, but luckily the 4th of July was a great opportunity to get everyone together! All the cousins got to meet each other (Odin and Drew & Linnea’s kids), as well as Margaret and Raghib, My dad, Mom, and Kim.

Pool day with Drew and his kids
We had planned to go out on Drew’s boat one day but due to the weather (insanely hot and humid), opted for a pool day at my mom’s condo instead. It was a great day to see everyone.

Mike and Alix’ Wedding!
One of the reasons we chose these specific weeks to head home was to attend Mike and Alix’ wedding! This had been a milestone in our heads for about a year- the first gathering since COVID started and the first overnight we had without Odin (thanks to my mom). IT was……awesome to get out, see people, return to normal and just have fun. A ton of my highschool friends were there as well which was a great oppotunity to re-connect and catch up.

Kayaking with Dad
We had a chance to get out on the Farmington River by renting some kayaks in Collinsville for a few hours. Really great opportunity to get some relaxing paddling in.
Museum for Aubrey and Elin’s Birthday
For the girls’ birthday, we decided to take them to the Connecticut Science Museum for the day. Drew also took the day off work (Maureen unfortunately couldn’t), so it was Myself, Odin, Drew, Colton. Aubrey, Elin and my mom. It was a ton of fun and a good day to spend bonding with the kids.
